Facebook certification: how to get a verified page?

Want to get Facebook certification? This guide allows you to verify your profile or page. Facebook Pages can get two types of badges (blue or gray), while profiles can only get the blue badge.

The blue badge: "authentic page or profile of a public figure, media company or brand".

The gray badge: Reserved for pages, this badge indicates that "Facebook has confirmed that this is a genuine company or organization page".

  • Check a Facebook page (gray badge)
  • Here are the prerequisites to obtain a gray badge for your Facebook page:
  • Be an administrator of the Facebook page
  • Have defined a profile photo
  • Have defined a cover photo
  • Have access to a telephone line or a corporate document
  • If these conditions are met, your Facebook page is Eligible for Verification.
  • Go to the settings of your Facebook page
  • You will find "Page Verification" in the "General" section.
  • Click on "Edit" then "Check this page"

Then, all you have to do is enter your phone number. Facebook calls you and gives you a code that you must enter in the next step. The social network then examines your information and grants you verification within days.

Note that in some cases, the option is not available despite the fact that the prerequisites are valid. We do not know precisely the reasons why you cannot verify your Facebook page (page category, location…).

Check a Facebook page or profile (blue badge)

The blue badge isn't just for pages: Facebook profiles can get it too. In addition to the profile and cover photos, you must have:

A name that respects the rules of Facebook

Content published on your account or page

The "Subscribe" option is enabled if it is a Facebook profile

To obtain a blue certification badge, you must complete this form. It appears that not all accounts can access it currently. In any case, Facebook specifies that only the pages of “celebrities, sports, media, leisure or elected officials can claim verification”.

If you want to certify a Facebook profile, you will need to submit

a photocopy of an official document with your name, an identity photo, and your date of birth (identity card, passport, or driver's license).

If you want to certify a Facebook page, you will need to submit

an official document that proves your company details: electricity bill, company registration document, etc.

In both cases, a field allows you to specify why you think your account or your Facebook page should be verified with the blue badge.

A priori, certifying your Facebook page with a blue badge allows access to advanced features in the Publishing Tools (modify the overview of links with Link Ownership, specify "brand elements" etc.).

Certify your accounts on other social networks

On other social networks, the steps are different.

Twitter certification: you must meet certain conditions and fill out a form, where you indicate the reasons that push you to request a certified account. Click here to access the info and the form.

Snapchat Certification: You can't ask Snap to certify your account, it's Snap that directly contacts those who can be certified (mostly influencers - the benefits are listed here).

Instagram Certification: Instagram is like Snapchat. The badge is reserved for well-known personalities and brands, you cannot request it from Instagram (all the info here).
