Facebook is the biggest online social media and social networking service where users can post on timelines, comments other posts, share photographs and links to news or other interesting content on the Web, play games, chat live, and even stream live video. Shared content that can be made publicly accessible, or it can be shared only among a select group of friends or family, or with a single person.
Many of us rushed to have facebook page or Business page for facebook. Obviously facebook is very powerful tools for todays life but we have to also understand the potential downside. Just like any powerful tool, facebook has to be managed with extra care to get the benefit we are looking to get but if we get it wrong and our organisation could lose money and reputation.
Before launching your facebook pages consider the following:
- It takes years to find and get connected with friends family members and business development. Create Customer based via like or comments or reviews. all your Memories and photos of each moment. Also take lot of efforts if u put a group and get thousand of members organised. All can be gone if somehow your personal facebook page get disabled by facebook for not following simple terms and conditions or by some silly mistakes.
- You may spend a handsome amount of money on ads to make your business-page popular and all of a sudden all your investment can be gone if pages are disabled. how about all the advertisements clients that u develop? Those should be your asset but it can go away any time.
- Social sites can do shut down groups. Every facebook user has the right to report any group and many social sites take a ‘risk adverse’ approach. So, if someone complains (even without justification) that your group is misleading, you are likely to be shut down. You will not only lose reputation; you will lose you contacts and all the investment in building your group.
- The risk of a security breach. Any online presence comes with the risk of security breaches. If you are signed in to your company’s Facebook account with password you commonly use and sometimes when the hacker send you email with facebook page username and password u may lose all your email/and login access to all pages you use that password.
- Facebook allows anyone freedom to create just about any group, provided it is legal and decent. Many organisations have taken advantage. They have increased their web presence and built an enviable following of loyal supporters. However, investing significant time, effort and money in third party assets could be short-sighted.
- Policies change: what might be free today may become very expensive tomorrow. We have seen how Google mutated from a completely free service to the most powerful advertising organisation on earth. Today facebook has over 2 billion subscribers and it is starting to flex its commercial muscle. We simply do not know how long commercial group pages will remain free.
- The social media business is all about data collection and consumer profiling. Knowing, on a massive scale, individual preferences, hobbies and lifestyles is a marketers dream. But it also creates risk for organisations. A successful facebook group will have thousands of followers. Create an application: a game or interactive survey and you will obtain a great deal of information about your consumers. This information not only has to be protected, it has to be collected in accordance with local data protection laws. And how often do you see a privacy statement or terms of use link on a facebook page?
That’s right. Not often.

Social Media today gives easy and great opportunities to consumers needs make them on the cloud to group them according to what they need or likes and use great deal of business opportunities. Communications gets more social and easier and cheaper.
