Facebook Boosted Posts Don’t Work!!
Well, that might be a bit harsh but I just can’t make them work. How can you advertise using a mechanism based on reach and engagement? What does that even mean??
I have to admit that the fault is [probably] entirely mine and I obviously don’t understand how to make it work. But ‘reach’, ‘engagement’, ‘audience’, what’s that about. What happened to ‘clicks’, ‘conversions’, and ‘acquisition’ – surely that’s what advertisers are interested in. I even thought clicks were always a bit vague but ‘engagement’ – shheessshhhhh….
I accept that Facebook makes a Gazillion dollars from this so it must work for some people but before you bombard me with flaming responses just consider this….
Facebook could charge on pretty much any basis they decide – they control every aspect of FB space so why do they operate using these vague response mechanisms? It’s because they make more money doing it this way. Charging for engagement is about as vague as vague can be. Charging based on possible reach encourages people to spend more money without making any promises about results. In addition, the payment process is so painless it’s like getting your pocket picked – you never even notice the money leaving your bank.
Quite simply FB boosted posts are designed to make more money for FB so it’s more expensive for you and me – and when we are talking about Facebook is there ever any other reason? So, FB advertising doesn’t work – this just can’t be true or FB wouldn’t make so much cash – but tread carefully, don’t lose track of why you are really doing this. Are you really just interested in engagement? Probably not...
If you know how to make this work please feel free to let me know.
Thanks./.
