Facebook Algorithm Reality Check
A lot of the time I see in these Facebook groups of entrepreneurs where people are constantly saying I don't understand the Facebook algorithm. No one is seeing my stuff. The algorithm is changing. Here's a reality check: The algorithm isn't changing and those who are telling you it is... Welcome to fear mongering. So the algorithm hasn't changed. When Facebook was created they wanted you to stay connected with your college friends, it was created by college kids for college kids. As soon as good ole Zuck realized he was actually onto something he opened it up as quickly as he could to the whole world. Still the emphasis was show people things they actually want to see and people they want to know about. The reason your business page isn't getting traction is because you a) probably don't know your ideal buyer (I have a whole article on that too) and b) you are not delivering content your buyer actually cares about!
What is the last thing you bought because someone sold it to you? Hm... I'll wait. Nothing. You buy because you have a relationship, you like the brand, you trust the person and you know the caliber of the product or service you will receive based on the reviews or the connection you have with the company. People aren't selling you on something. You are doing your research, you are being marketed at and you are buying because you feel a level of comfort to do so.
So now you're the business owner, you need to be delivering content that connects and resonates with your buyer. People love engagement posts. I get you may think its stupid but its not. It's what people use to create a relationship with you out of the millions of other businesses doing what you do. They share their birthdate, their most hated food, pictures of their dog and what they call popsicles. They are creating a relationship with you. The way to create a sales cycle is to a) know who you are selling to b) know what they need c) create products that fit their needs d) create a relationship that allows you to show them how you can solve what they need. You want people to know you, like you and trust you before they will buy from you. It opens the sale, allows you to close the sale and then puts you on track for a repeat sale.
Ideally you want to put out 97% relationship driven content and 3% sales driven content. You want to already have a relationship before you ask for the sale. Drop out content on your business page that is fun, motivational, opinion based, makes folks laugh - this will gain traction even when you have less than 100 likes! Keep DOING IT. Do it over and over and over. If you can't do it or don't want to do it - hire me. I will do it for you! I am actually really good at it. Consumer psychology is totally my jam.
In the mean time - just start posting 4-6 times a day. Post behind the scenes pics, go live, show a box of materials you need, post about a store that you love, interview a friend, post a most asked FAQ. The best thing you can do is to pull back the curtain and start showing people what it is that you actually do!
