Facebook Ads: Worth It or Not?

The social media giant Facebook has been around for a while now (and doesn't seem to be going anywhere). With more than 2 billion active users, it is the most popular website in the world and continues to grow every day.

There are many people who say that Facebook ads are not worth it, while others claim they're the only way to get traffic. It's hard to tell if these ads are worth your time and money because there is no one right answer. I personally fall into the camp that it's a happy medium of both consistent organic content and ads.

They can help you get more traffic and conversions, but it takes a lot of time and money. If you want to make the most out of Facebook ads (and any other ad platform for that matter), here's what I recommend:

• Use ads when your page is starting to build momentum. This means you should already have a beginning level of followers and interaction with your audience.
• Don't invest more than you can afford. I know...sounds like a no-brainer. However, I've seen this happen many times where brands throw money at ads in hopes it's going to have customers flocking to them. If you're new, keep it low budget!
• Use conversion tracking to know if the ad campaign works or not (after all, you'll want to make sure the money you've invested is actually working for you!). This requires website pixels coded for each action on your site (ie when someone subscribes to your newsletter, or someone schedules a call with your company).
• If you're doing the above and it's not working, look at your copy. Is it clear what you're offering? Was there a call to action in bold font saying "Schedule a Demo Now!!!"? (Pro Tip...be careful with words like 'try', 'find out' etc... because this could be seen as an endorsement of risk).

The moral of the story...yes, Facebook Ads can work for you and your business!

Is it a bit overwhelming? Yes! However, done right...and it can be a piece of your overall marketing plan. Remember - Facebook ads are only one piece of the puzzle!
