FaceApp Controversy

From past couple of days, I am watching the controversy against #FaceApp on many Television Channels and Articles, That it is very dangerous for our personal data and privacy. So, stop using it as

·     They have full access of yours phots.

·     They are saving your photos on their own servers.

·     They saving users location and identity.

And many more 

As a Mobile Application Developer with having years of experience in this field I concluded that “This is not more than #US War for monopoly on technology either with #Russia or #China”

As we All Know #US is the Trend Setter for technology specially IT industry All Major applications and even Operating systems are owned and developed by US companies and these companies are the world highest profit making companies & their profit is even more than the net income of many countries for example Microsoft, Apple IBM, Amazon and Facebook.

But from last decade we have seen #China & #Russia is trying to compete #US and they are in WAR OF TECHNOLOGY. You can see in case of #ZET or #Huawei. The point is that USA can’t afford monopoly of anyone else in the field of Technology because they know this is the feature. 

Now Let’s come back to the #FaceApp.

I will never defend this app as I know that not only many applications either on a broader sense Technology is the biggest problem for our privacy/data and now we can’t get out of it.

 So, I want to give only 1 comparison of FaceApp with Facebook (As we all use Facebook). I know this is very obscure to give comparison of photography app with social App but as we are concerned with our privacy and data so no application is exempt from it. 

The only thing from where a common user can get to know that the application is safe for his/her concerned private data is Permissions they allow. Let’s Have look on permissions comparison between Facebook and FaceApp

Face App is not getting any other permission than above described. So, we should clear that this app is not more than dangerous for our data/privacy as Facebook is. Because Facebook access lot of other permissions also. Which are as following

Now If you have Facebook in your mobile and you are worried about FaceApp than be calm or delete both or at least delete that is riskier, and off course risker for me is that app that knows everything about me. They knows

Who I am, what is my father mother name, what is my address, where do I job, which places I visited yet and where I am right now and to which friend I am near to, what I like in food, restaurants even more what is my blood group, how long I sleep, let’s stop discussing this list and come to specific permission example from calendar permission they can get to know

·      When you have appointment with doctor.

·      When you have meeting with your business partner.

With Microphone permission, they can record the discussion with your business partner.

With Location permission, they can know about the place of meeting.

With that location and nearby feature they can find your doctor or business partner.

With SMS permission, they can read your messages.

With Calls permission, they can see your call history.

With Contacts permission, they know your Uncle John’s Number :D

With Settings permission, they have right to play with your settings.

Don’t be the part of any controversy just enjoy technology and stop thinking on the behalf of others mind. PS I have both applications installed.
