Face Your Face

Before Covid, I saw my face when I brushed my teeth and shaved in the morning. That was it. I didn't pay much attention to it. I could rely on my wife to let me know if something was happening on my face. But now I see it every day, often for a few hours each day. I can't escape my face!
Ignorance was bliss! Now I'm fully informed about my face. It stares back at me with weird lighting and odd features. It has big turtle eyes, a crooked nose, an underbite, a giant forehead, and sometimes, a renegade eyebrow sticking straight out.
The nose was straight at one point, but then I thought it would be fun to learn to box. The learning was mostly me getting punched in the face as I tried to work on technique. Because I'm so smart, I kept doing it for a year, and I became an expert at getting punched in the face and nothing else.
When I take photos of friends for their LinkedIn profile pics, they'll ask for so many retakes that I end up saying, "You know, that is your face." And now, due to this dreadful pandemic, I have to give myself the same advice.
Scott, that is your face. Deal with it. As my Dad used to say, "If we all looked the same, the world would be a boring place." So, you're welcome, I'll continue to make the world more interesting and own this face. And I'm putting an eyebrow trimmer on my Christmas list!
