All humans possess diverse abilities with a unique purpose for existence that only requires the right atmosphere and or platform to excel exceptionally.
Thus, we might be born on the same day, at the same place, happen to be from the same tribe/country, have similar religious beliefs, life perspectives as well as political inclinations but alas even if we resemble each other, our areas of strengths and usefulness to humanity may not necessarily be the same.
Hence, the need to first know the race we are running as individuals, face it with uncommon focus and then find the appropriate pace for each stage of the race.
The term "rat race" is commonly used to describe some of the human drive, pursuits and activities in different spheres of life that might yield no desirable result or endpoint if not properly, thoughtfully and strategically re-evaluated.
The thought for the day - "face your race, find your pace" is explained differently by Fred Lebow when he said - "It doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, "I have finished." There is a lot of satisfaction in that."
Therefore, whatever state or stage we might be in the race of life, what matters most is to sincerely ask ourselves the question - "am I running the right race?", if yes, "am I running at the right pace?". Answers to these questions will to an extent reduce the unnecessary strive, struggle and pursuits individuals undertake in our world today and help them live a better, meaningful and "purpose driven life".
Meb Keflezighi, a retired Eritrean born American long distance runner provided an apt conclusion - "But I also realize that winning doesn't always mean getting first place; it means getting the best out of yourself."
We are not all running the same race, we ought not to be distracted by what the next person might be doing or not doing nor what is happening around, rather we should face our respective race and run at the right pace to get the very best out of ourselves in every situation.
May God Help Us All (Amen).
