Face your fear and do it anyways!

Face your fear and do it anyways!

A few years ago, I was attending a Tony Robbins Life Mastery event in Fiji, which if you don’t know is an island near Australia.

I flew down there from the US with my wife, who always wanted to go to Fiji and stay in the grass huts on the beach.

Day one of the event came as a massive shock to me.

It hit me like a sledgehammer…

The challenge on the opening day was to climb up a 100 feet pole, then balance on top of it before leaping 10 feet into the air onto a trapeze.

And to visualize it, 100 feet is two-thirds the height of the Statue of Liberty.

Yep …

Now that, in itself, is pretty hairy.

Imagine how I felt

But all this was fear…

And a limiting belief that I was mortally scared of heights…

And I was spinning that negative story in my mind that I just couldn’t do it…

So, I made my move, climbed into my harness, put on my protective helmet and started climbing up the pole.

10 feet…

25 feet…

50 feet…

Then I did something completely stupid.

I LOOKED DOWN.

The pole was swaying in the wind and then I was paralyzed by fear.

I started shaking, so much that I almost fell off the pole.

I just stood there, clinging on for dear life.

And then something happened in my mind.

A switch was triggered.

I started to remember all the times in my life, when I had overcome adversity.

When I got into my first fight at school and I was so scared I would get hurt. But I didn’t.

Or, like when my first child, George was born.

Or when I acquired my first business.

I call these moments (and there are lots of them… you will have lots of them too) my cookie jar.

So, when I’m in a pinch, I remember those times when I crushed it. I moved forward. And I got the outcome I was looking for.

Halfway up that pole, it was time to reach into the cookie jar, reset myself and get to the top of that pole.

And I have to tell you. To stand on top, leap to the trapeze…

It was of my most enjoyable moments in life.

So why am I telling you this?

Because…

If you are going through a difficult time in your life right now. Reach into your own cookie jar of times you nailed it and use those outcomes you achieved to power you through.

Especially when you go to buy a business (which I know you want to do badly).

There are times it’s a walk in the park.

But there are times it’s challenging.

When you get to those times, reach into your cookie jar, remember what a gladiator you are and then step back into your power and greatness, do the work and smash your outcome.

Make a list for yourself right now.

1. What’s a time in your life when your back was truly against a wall, yet you came through it, got the outcome you wanted and then celebrated like crazy?

2. What’s something you have in your life, right now, that in the past seemed impossible and so out of reach? But now, here you are. You have it.

3. What’s something in your life that happened to you that you have attached a negative meaning? What did you learn from it? How can you apply it to your life moving forward?

These will go straight into your cookie jar. Reach in and use them at any time you are facing a challenge and remember your power, your greatness and your mindset to smash whatever is in front of you.
