Face The Change (Part 2)
There is a waterman’s rule that anyone who goes to the beach must and should follow.?
Never turn your back on the sea.?
This lesson holds true in life as well. The sea here stands for the tide of change and the unexpected shifts that life brings.
Here you find both the power and chaos where the tide crashes on the shore. Bubbling with energy and new experiences, it is a fusion and cross section of the world. Like the whitewash at the edge of the wave, progress.?
Progress is inevitable. Progress can be both good and bad.?
Curious and always attracted to the edges, I moved to Kakaako a few short years ago. Another fresh perspective. Another mix of ideas to experience and weigh. Kakaako is unlike any urban environment Hawaii has ever had.?
Much like the sea, progress is constant and unpredictable. One moment it can propel you forth; the next, it will pull you back, in directions you had no intention or control. Facing the sea, facing the future, is essential for adaptation. Our task is to learn the tides and currents. To pick the perfect time to act. Some more passive perspective would say that our role is to receive the wave. Yet our progress begins with our ideas. If so, then it is our responsibility to pay attention and to do what we can within our influence.?
In this way, you can not turn your back on the sea. We must embrace progress. Take part in whatever capacity you are capable. Be active in navigating its direction for you and yours, or be subject to the chaos of the unbridled sea.
