The Face Behind a Resume
Today, we live in an age of abundance but experience a sense of emptiness. There is more of everything but we are less satisfied with it.
The digital infrastructure has evolved in an exponential way that we are struggling to cope up with its growth. Recruiters have more platforms to access profiles, have inboxes that are flooded with resumes, have access to recruitment tools that give the most sophisticated search filers and what not. But the question remains that whether such technological advances had in some ways dehumanized the whole process of recruiting.

Many forget that there is a face behind a resume. While out of the box thinking is a reinforced concept in the corporate space, it is not exercised in the way a resume can be perceived. There is such a unidimensional view of a resume, the qualifications, the skill sets, the so called red flags defined by the recruiters etc. Sometimes an interview feels like an assessment of a resume and not the person’s abilities who is sitting in front.
?The thought that there is a face behind a resume and that humans can be changed, molded and trained is not so common. There was a time when a recruiter would know his candidates’ names and faces, he would give him tips on resume making, give interview feedback. With all the technological advance, all that happens now in a digital way. No amount of digital sophistication can replace the effect of a human connection. Amidst this digital flood of information, it would be nice if efforts are made to connect with a candidate and not just his resume. A genuine thank you, an honest constructive feedback, tips for interviews can be conveyed over a call instead of an automated message. After all, man is a social animal. And he is in need of human connections more than digital ones.
