Facade Modeling
According to the construction industry, facade fabrication has origins in the manufacturing industry and is cross-sectoral in the AEC Industry. In design, the architect’s artistic vocation and the dawn of urban infrastructure and high-rise building give facade design technology and the rise of BIM Architectural Services; it has brought good possibilities for the evolution of facade design.
?The implementation of BIM in the facade design stage involves a detailed study of Building Information Modeling across the construction industry, and of design and manufacturing process in facade engineering. The goal of this phase is to point out current barriers to the implementation of BIM in facade design and stipulate the requirements for a productive implementation.
?Metal facades give buildings an air of refinement and vogue. They also bring a cleanness to the facade, due to their explicit fabrication and well-resolved connections between other materials and building constituents. There are currently multiple product options available for coatings, offering vast colour options, including metallics, with different degrees of durability (natural aging and corrosion). One of the major complications when approaching metal facades is the risk of corrosion, which can give rise to points of weakness in the material and interfere with the sublimity of the building.
?With the evolution in BIM technology, facade designers are successfully implementing a 3D model which fosters them in showcasing building data, components, material fabrication process, cost of materials and boosts the communication flow among other disciplines.
