This is a very charming 19th C period Staffordshire Pottery Dog.
It has a really nicely shaped face, beautifully painted by hand and with charming facial expression and character.
Very good condition throughout/ No damage or chips.
Old gold trim mellow in colour and worn
Signs of age and originality -
Hand painted with excellent individual detail and expression to face.
It has 2 firing holes to the base and back - (not to be confused with casting holes which are larger and characteristic of the later slip casting method of production.
The back has been painted - Modern reproductions tend to be blank
Good signs of wear, paint marks and debris to the base. Typical of older figures
