Eye of the storm
We’re all feeling it. Increasing anxiety and concern about what the next few months might deliver. It’s like we are in that eerie quiet that is the eye of the storm. The question is…what to do?
We have endured a lot already this year. Our business and thankfully for the most part the residential property market as a whole, has weathered the impact of the storm that has been CoronaVirus. Those early months were hectic and worrying but we adjusted, persevered, and got through, finding new ways to show, sell and lease properties to help our clients achieve their property goals.
And then we relaxed a little.
Sure, things have not returned to normal, but we settled back into many of the old ways of doing things. Our Property Managers and Sales Agents could host inspections and auctions, hold team meetings, and meet clients in person so we could keep doing what we do, selling and leasing properties to help our clients achieve their property goals.
And that’s what we have been doing. We have been identifying buyers and our PM team are successfully and quickly finding tenants for rental properties as they become vacant.
Of course many, including myself, remained concerned about the prospect the economy would falter again in September when the lifeline of government supports were scheduled to expire, but I’m not sure any of us really considered the prospect of a second wave health crisis greater than what we have already endured.
And yet here we are. Looking at Victoria with a combination of sadness, horror, empathy, and fear. Rather than having ridden out the storm we could very well just be sitting in the eye with the worst yet to come.
It is scary. So, what do we do?
I know I’m not alone in hoping we’re all doing enough to prevent a dramatic second wave here in NSW. Our business has chosen to be proactive. We want to do everything we can to prepare for the worst but equally importantly we want to do everything we can to help prevent the risk of any potential spread of the virus. We’re back to virtual meetings, masks and minimizing unnecessary travel and social interactions.
At the same time, we are still working to present property listings to our database of buyers and we’re still matching rental properties with reputable, reliable tenants. We have proven we can do it by doing things a little differently so that’s what we’re doing.

4 年Great article Ewan Morton - never has it been more important to focus on aspects we can control. Be informed but not alarmed. Limit media exposure.Lets all stick to the facts of whats really going on & not what may or may not happen. We may all be "in this together" but we all think about it as individuals. Stay strong. Keep moving.
