There have been a few times in my life when I looked at someone or something, and without redirecting my gaze, a new revelation appeared right before my eyes.? I recall once looking at a young man who addressed me by name, and I had no clue who he was.? When he told me his name, my eyes were “opened” to see a little boy grow up in less than a second!? Tears welled in my eyes and precious memories flooded my mind as I felt his love after many years.
I can imagine how, on the road to Emmaus, the gentlemen felt when Jesus began to walk with them.? Their eyes were kept from recognizing Him, but their hearts did not betray them.? Jesus asked what they were talking about, and the gentlemen recounted the activities that lead to His death, burial, and resurrection.? Jesus, in turn, began to reference Himself in the scriptures in a way that only He can!? It was getting late, and He was invited to dinner.? When He blessed the bread, broke it, and gave it to those in attendance, their eyes were opened.? They recognized who He was before He vanished, and He left their hearts ablaze in awe and wonder.?
Although we cannot see or touch Jesus today, His promised Holy Spirit can have that same effect on us if only we welcome Him into our lives.? I pray that the embers of your heart are fanned into flame and never extinguished. In Jesus' name, Amen.
The Lord bless you and keep you.? The Lord make His face shine upon you.? The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.? ?- Numbers 6:24-26 NKJV
