An Eye-Opener About Determination

A few weeks before, my family and I visited a park where an open-stage program was being held. Before the main event, the host invited kids to come up and sing. A few children went on stage and sang beautifully.

Among them was a little boy who stood patiently in line, waiting for his turn. But as his moment approached, the host announced that time was up, and the boy could sing only after the main program. Surprisingly, the boy didn’t move. He stood there, firm and determined, refusing to give up on his chance.

Everyone in the audience noticed his persistence. We couldn’t help but admire his determination. Another host saw this, too, and decided to give him the chance he deserved. As the audience cheered and clapped, the boy finally sang. Though he wasn’t fluent, and his words wavered, his unwavering spirit left a lasting impression on all of us.

It made me reflect: so many of us hesitate to speak or present ourselves because we think we’re not good enough. But confidence and determination matter far more than perfection. That little boy reminded us that believing in ourselves and standing our ground is the first step toward success.

Sometimes, the courage to try is all it takes.
