Eye or Camera
A recently concluded launch event had all the Invitees clicking away from their phones as the product to be launched came on stage. It was a sight worth noting as everyone had their cell phones in action.
I was trying to accommodate the action with my eyes. But the social pressure was so high that I finally pulled out my phone. As I adjusted the focus of the camera, to capture what I saw, I felt that what appeared in camera was quiet na?ve as compared to what my eyes saw. By this time the action had concluded and I had missed the last part in the dilemma of eye or camera.
I had a similar experience during my travel to Leh/Ladakh. The camera just couldn’t capture what, nature offered. Hills, mountains, rocks, peaks, rivers, springs, the scale is so different and large. The camera records what eyes narrow it down to capture. Many times in the hurry to capture the moment, we miss the actual moment. My enthusiasm to take photos died within 2 days in this vacation and the balance time my eyes gave me the joy of what I saw.
In my view the camera just records the moment, which one so requires while the eyes give you an experience much richer.
There is definitely more than meets the eye than the camera. Sonali Malvankar
