Eye Brows - The one thing you can get in shape without exercising!

If you have never been obsessed with great eyebrows, it’s probably because you already own a beautiful pair or because you have never been through the horror of a beauty parlour completely ruining your eyebrows to the point that you pay them, come home and cry.

Whilst some people are born with well shaped, perfectly-manicured brows, some of us have to work very hard at obtaining them. One of the first things people notice about you, especially if they’re anything like me; would be your eyebrows. Eyebrows have the power to completely change the look of the face by correcting minor flaws such as small eyes or eyes that are too far apart. The way I see it, perfectly groomed eyebrows are one of God’s greatest gifts to mankind. Whilst well groomed eyebrows are a?lesser known anti-aging secret, they do more than just make you look youthful.?

Physically, the main function of eyebrows remains protecting our eyes by moving wetness from sweat and rain away from our eyes, reducing the amount of light that gets into your eyes and keeping dirt away from them. Eyebrow hairs growing outward, toward the sides of our face helps direct any moisture away from our eyes toward the side of our head instead of into the eyes.?

Unless you are Gal Gadot, no human has a perfectly symmetrical face but most of us would kill to have one. Asymmetrical eyebrows can throw off your facial balance, making one eye appear larger than the other or longer than the other, changing your entire look altogether.?

Well-structured brows that are more symmetrical; is pleasing to the human eye. Besides, the right eyebrow shape can frame and flatter the eyes. The wrong one can make you appear aged, tired, or angry. However, there is no one “right” eyebrow shape.

While you can’t change your face shape, you can modify your eyebrows which in turn alter how your face shape looks. For example, a flat eyebrow shape tends to shorten the face shape. Therefore, if you have a longer face, you may choose a flat eyebrow shape to create the illusion of a shorter, more balanced face.

The right brow shape can add length and definition to your face. It can also draw the eyes to the upper portion of the face to distract from imperfections on the bottom portion.

Without regular maintenance, your eyebrows can appear bushy and unkempt. In contrast, a well-groomed brow can create a polished look that enhances your appearance. Even without a drop of makeup, a person with well-kept eyebrows will typically appear more clean and refined.

My eyebrows are nothing near perfect; however they’re better than Christina Aguilera’s 90’s eyebrows. So here are a few things I swear by in my never ending struggle to eyebrow perfection.

  1. I trust one and only one beautician with my eyebrows. Whilst I might take a chance with who gives me a haircut (very rarely) or who does my pedicure, I NEVER take a chance with my eyebrows. It is so important to patronize the same person who is used to your face when it comes to shaping your eyebrows.
  2. Since my eyebrows have been completely ruined by top salons in the country in the past,?I have also mastered some disaster management.

  • If you want to grow thicker eyebrows?it helps to apply some warmed up Olive oil and massage your brows from the top of your nose towards the corners of your eyes.?
  • Whenever Olive oil is not within reach, stick to our go to - Coconut oil. Dip a cotton swab in the oil and apply on your eyebrows and leave it overnight. Rinse with a face wash in the morning.
  • Aloe Vera contains aloenin which promotes hair growth similar to that of keratin, hence it rejuvenates hair, giving it more elasticity and breakage prevention. Daily application of Aloe Vera is effective for growing thick or voluminous brows permanently.

3. This?will probably come as no surprise but drinking water is beneficial for your overall health, as it is for hair growth. Drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water every day will remove toxic substances from your body, enhance your system and improve hair growth.

4. Brushing your hair regularly helps stimulate blood capillaries, increase blood circulation and transport nutrients and oxygen to the stem, root and bulb. Get yourself an eyebrow brush and brush them after moisturizing your face everyday.?

5. As I avoid eating meat like I avoid the plague, I can safely say plant based food that is rich in Biotin - a vitamin that helps hair growth - will definitely help in your struggle to achieve perfect eyebrows. For instance, Avocados, Peanuts, Sweet potatoes, Mushrooms, Bananas, Broccoli etc are natural treatments for hair loss.

BONUS TIP: Contrary to popular belief: use a concealer below your brows and not a highlighter to highlight your eyebrows. Opt for a concealer that's one shade lighter than your skin tone to brighten up your brow area while still looking fully natural.
