Extreme heat caused damage to runway at Luton airport

??Flights had been temporarily suspended “to allow for an essential runway repair after high surface temperatures caused a small section to lift” at London Luton Airport on Monday July 18th.

??The airport said departing flights resumed at 1740 Local Time, following repairs. Inbound flights resumed 15 minutes later.

??EasyJet and Ryanair both diverted some of their arrivals to other airports.

??The damage occurred as the Met Office issued a red extreme heat warning in much of England, with temperatures beyond 40°C.
