Extraordinary is just a label...

Extraordinary is just a label...

In June 2018, Mexicans jumping in jubilation and shook the ground hard enough to set off earthquake detectors. People danced in the streets after their team scored a surprise victory over World Cup defending champion Germany. The Institute of Geological and Atmospheric Investigations said a highly sensitive earthquake sensors registered tremors at two sites in the capital of Mexico seven seconds after the game's 35th minute!

On 23rd Jan 2016, I was there when Indian cricket team won the T20 against Australia. As I saw the stadium erupt in chaos in the nail-biting match taking us to last over, I found my own energy reaching new heights - which is eye popping given my high energy level generally. The jubilance and celebrations around me was deafening!

I am sure you feel the surge of energy just reading this!!

I strongly believe that all of us are filled with wonder and awe on seeing excellence beyond norm.

Yet, most of us choose to sit outside the court and watch rather than jump in and participate.

Yes, when it comes to sports, it takes handwork, dedication, years of pain to get there. There is a degree of separation we have with that - we clearly know we cannot be there.

Yet,

There is one thing which every single person, no matter what profession they are in, have in common - We ALL want to make significant strides in life toward a purpose or goal that we have.

However, a painfully large majority of us are not engaged in fulfilling jobs, work or anywhere close to living our potential.

What stops people from doing that? Why is it so difficult to move towards something that would make us energised to get out of bed and jump up everyday?

While each of us has those moments, why most of us find it excruciatingly difficult to have repeat experiences of these moments?

I remember, when I saw Superman, movie in a local outdoor cinema at 9 or 10 year of age, I literally jumped down from sitting area that was double my height. Much to my chagrin, I didn’t land as they showed in the movie and sprained my ankle!

These hero folks really distorted the reality for me and it has been one hard ride for me to get over it as getting in awe of the superstars was also coupled with a dreadful feeling that I would never be there and my life wouldn’t amount to much!

At one level or other, you may also have felt this.

“I don’t have any hope of getting there” is the single most deprecating belief standing in our way of getting “there”.

As I looked at real life heroes and read their biography on how they did what they did. All of these heroes started small and all of them did small things consistently and they definitely did not worry about making it extraordinary.

"Extraordinary" was the label given by other people who came in AFTER the hard work of laying brick on top of brick was already by these ordinary people and they saw this awesome building created by this extraordinary person.

You can be extraordinary as well. All you need to do is to give yourself permission to fail - again and again and again.

These failure may take toll on you unless you are driven by a purpose. A purpose that is your own, something that is felt inside your deepest recess, a purpose that is driven by your standards in life.

"You can choose to be average. Or you can choose to be extraordinary."
- Brandon Burchard

I work with the set of people who are tired of being average. These individuals are asking the big question and they are exploring themselves.

They already know the value of a coach. They know they don't have all the answers and they know their coach or anyone in the world doesn’t have all the answers.

But they also know that together we can explore.

You can be one of those fortunate one as well - all you gotta do right now is take a small step and set up time with me to see what your version 2.0 may look like.

Start small - make it big. But START SOMETHING THAT MATTERS.

Well said Kapil! I think the fear of failure is the biggest obstacle in reaching ‘there’ .
