EXTRA TIME?
It truly is a unique environment at the moment, with many people taking time away from their permanent roles or working reduced hours.
Though we all have our fingers crossed for a speedy and healthy return to our regular routines, it could be a good opportunity to take stock and use this extra time to discover a new hobby or learn something new!
Having spoken to many candidates and clients over the last few weeks, I have put together a little pool of ideas for making the most out of the spare time you or your employees may currently have!
Personal down time!
- Get Active: Take up yoga, join an online exercise club or host a virtual dance party
- Connect with your family or housemate: Use this time to reengage, perhaps dragging out the old board games or playing cards!
- Learn to cook something new – why not join the new online cooking classes from Wagamama https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/wagamama-coronavirus-virtual-cooking-lesson-chicken-katsu-a9441971.html
- Developing your gardening skills is a great way to get out of the house and take a break .....while maintain social distancing! Fingers crossed for some sunny weather!
Utilising your employees work time!
- Online training : There are a variety of great online providers who can customise training platforms to develop your employees skills while operations takes a break! Some providers can also host web chat style training sessions.
- Language learning: consider investing in your team by allowing their spare work time to be used as an opportunity to develop their language skills or any other areas of professional development
- Team building: Utilise spare time in the day by hosting a team building exercise or game that not only keeps your team engaged but also builds better relationships and helps develop better communication and cooperation
- Get organised: It’s a great time for your team to rally together and work on any projects that usually get forgotten about or pushed aside!
- Office book club: Keep your team feeling motivated and connected by utilising the time usually spent commuting or in meetings on a group activity, such as a book club or running club instead.
Although it is an unusual time and we are all having to adapt, it can also be a good opportunity to develop your personal skills as well as show dedication and commitment to your team and employees.
We are hosting weekly HR web forums with industry experts who are answering questions and sharing their insight during this period of change and uncertainty. If you would like to be on one of our expert panels or dial and listen, then please drop me an email! [email protected]
Keep well!
