A Book You Should Read - As customary, let’s lead off (pun intended) with the book “Fans First” by Jesse Cole. Jesse Cole is the owner of the baseball team the Savannah Bananas and he has one mission: sparking a fan-focused movement. This book takes you for a wild ride about the man in a yellow tux, America’s pastime, going from a player to an owner, and all about who the Savanna Bananas are. All of this with a focus on exceptional customer/fan centric values. Amazing read for learning how to glorify your customers.?

A Small Business You Should Support - The small business of the week is Lake Worth Cigar in Lake Worth, TX. If you’ve followed me on here awhile then you know that I smoke a ton of cigars thanks to my father-in-law’s influence. Hands down, the nicest humidor in Fort Worth is at Lake Worth Cigar. The owners are awesome, they always remember you, they’re happy to help with choices or guide you if you’re not a cigar connoisseur yet. If you wanna grab a cigar then let me know and I will meet you there. I wont even fight you on it.

A Person You Should Follow on LinkedIn - One person you should definitely follow is Dion Harrison . I met Dion while serving on the West Area Council Board for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce. He routinely makes amazing posts about equality and diversity while shedding light in some unfortunately still dark areas of society. Give him a follow. You’ll learn something. Trust me.?

A Podcast You Should Listen To - The podcast of the week is the Business Made Simple with Donald Miller. The same Donald Miller that wrote Building a Story Brand. Amazing book for the record. This podcast will coach you to build your business like an airplane. The cockpit is your leadership. The body is your overhead. The right engine is your marketing. The left engine is your sales. The wings are your products and the fuel tanks are your cash flow. If you build the six parts of your business correctly it will fly far and fast. Every week we help a business owner just like you optimize their airplane. Get started with this episode .?

A Verse From the Bible -?Matthew 9:17 “Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” This was His answer when he was confronted by John the Baptist’s disciples and asked about why His disciples don’t fast while they and the Pharisees do fast. There’s a deeper metaphor here as is customary in the Bible. If you put new wine into an old wine skin then when the wine is fermenting and emitting gas the old skin will burst and tear. “New wine” represents the new covenant of grace through Jesus Christ meaning that he was referring to Himself as the new wine and the Jewish extra-biblical, legalistic religious traditions of the Pharisees were the old wineskins. This gets exponentially deeper so if this left you confused then give me a shout. Happy to talk through it.?
