Welcome to Extend Your Reach! A newsletter designed to bring you the best tips, tricks, and resources to help you grow and succeed in both your personal and professional life. In this newsletter, we will be highlighting five different areas of focus to help you extend your reach and accelerate your growth.?
This one is a bit longer at around 4-5 minutes BUT well worth the extra minute I’m stealing from you.?
First, let's start with a book you should read. Knowledge is power, and there's no better way to gain knowledge than by reading a great book. Our book of the week is “Excellence Wins” by Horst Schulze. If the Ritz-Carlton doesn’t ring a bell then it should. This book provides a practical approach to building a successful business based around excellence and customer service, with a focus on empowering employees to ascend to standard of excellence for the benefit of the customer. “An organization can't please every human being every time. But it never hurts to try.” - Horst Schulze
Next, let's talk about a small business you should support. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and supporting them is a great way to give back to your community. Our small business of the week is 1611 Indoor Golf Club. Think of your local country club mixed with your favorite sports bar. They have food, a full bar, top of the line technology via Trackman’s virtual driving range, custom club fittings, and even golf lessons. By supporting small businesses like 1611, you not only get great service but also help to create a better future for our communities. They’re right off Interstate 20 and Bryant Irving Rd by 5.11 Tactical. Rent a bay today!?

Now, let's focus on personal development. One person you should follow on LinkedIn is James Rhodes. James is a great leader and speaker, and I met him through a mutual friend at a Chamber event. He cranks out some great leadership articles and provides valuable insights on leadership and personal development. His content is sure to inspire and motivate you to reach your full potential. He is super active with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and works for one of the greatest companies in Fort Worth, BNSF.
Another great way to enhance your personal development and perspective on life is by listening to a great podcast. Our podcast of the week is “Drifting” with JT Van Zandt. I’m going to turn you on to two different episodes on this podcast that I couldn’t get enough of. The episode with Remi Warren where Remi describes when his group was attacked by a Kodiak bear and about the time he rescued his girlfriend (now wife) from the high desert where she’d gone out for a run and was missing for a couple of days. Wild stuff. The next one is about JB Mauney. JB is one of the greatest bull riders of all time and they dive into being obsessed with bull riding every single day since he was a kid, as well as when he tried to work a job in a factory and hated it. I think he said something along the lines of “those bulls are gonna have hell throwing me off” if it meant he had to go back to work at the factory. Absolutely amazing episodes and podcast.?
Finally, let's focus on spiritual growth. A very popular and applicable verse from the Holy Bible that can help you extend your reach is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." This verse is a reminder that no matter what challenges we face, we can overcome them with the help of our faith and the strength that comes from our relationship with God.?
In conclusion, I hope by focusing on one or all of these five areas of your life, you can extend your reach and accelerate your growth. Whether it's through reading a great book, supporting a small business, following inspiring leaders, learning from podcasts, or growing in your faith, there are countless ways to improve and succeed. I hope this newsletter has been helpful and I look forward to sharing more with you in the future!
