Extend Your Reach! A Newsletter for Acceleration, Issue No. 33

Welcome to Extend Your Reach! A newsletter designed to bring you the best tips, tricks, and resources to help you grow and succeed in both your personal and professional life. In this newsletter, we will be highlighting five different areas of focus to help you extend your reach and accelerate your growth.

A Book Series You Should Read -? Red Rising by Pierce Brown. This is book 1 of a 6 book series and man is it awesome! I am currently on book 4. Red Rising is the thrilling first entry in the Red Rising Saga. Darrow has never seen the sky. He is a Red, a member of the lowly mining caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he willingly spends his life digging underground, believing his sacrifice will make the surface livable for future generations. Then Darrow makes a horrible discovery. Humanity actually reached the surface generations ago. The Reds are slaves, in service to a decadent ruling class. Longing for justice, driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow joins the resistance to destroy society from within. He will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies…even if he has to become one of them to do it. Check it out.

A Small Business You Should Support - Sendero Provisions. Sendero was born out of one thing: the love for the West. The landscapes, cultures, history, geology, flora, and fauna. All of it. Their very first hat came into being because of the wild West Texas views down in Big Bend country. There’s nothing better than putting on a hat that fits juuust right. I spent much of my childhood stomping around a ranch in south Texas near Langtry, so I was immediately drawn to the Devil’s River hat of theirs. I’m pretty sure I just wore it yesterday actually. Check em out.

A Person You Should Follow on LinkedIn - C. R. Kovach. I just love this guy. He is truly a genuine and honest guy who puts other people first. He’s also a fellow member of the jiu jitsu cult so I am admittedly biased. Anyone who walks the road of “the gentle art” is a friend of mine. He is passionate about driving growth through innovative marketing strategies and optimizing sales operations for businesses. With a proven track record in both the CMO and Sales Ops roles, he brings a unique blend of creative marketing prowess and data-driven sales optimization to the table. He cranks out great content on LinkedIn. Follow him here.

A Verse From the Bible -? Finally, let’s get to the best part of this newsletter and the Lord’s word.

Philippians 2 : 3–4

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

This has been my approach for most of my adult life. Admittedly, I miss the mark often, but I do try. ‘Selfish ambition or conceit’. Doesn’t that just sum up most of us? Instagram posts or those ‘hurrah for me’ posts on LinkedIn, what are they if not vain conceit or humble brags? We’re taught to be ambitious aren’t we? We’re told it’s good. We heap interests on some of the most vain and conceited people on the planet. Humility seems pretty out of fashion and it’s hard to think of many role models. Christ said ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’ but Paul took that further and says that the needs of others are more important than your own. How do you feel about that?

All in all, I hope by looking into one or all of these five areas of your life, you can extend your reach and accelerate your personal and professional growth. I hope this newsletter has been helpful and I look forward to sharing more with you next time!

Good stuff here Jason. As we approach Easter time, the picture of Jesus washing the feet of the apostles always touches my heart.
