Welcome to Extend Your Reach! A newsletter designed to bring you the best tips, tricks, and resources to help you grow and succeed in both your personal and professional life. In this newsletter, we will be highlighting five different areas of focus to help you extend your reach and accelerate your growth.
A Book You Should Read - The Terminal List by Jack Carr. My brother told me about this one and I finally read it. So good. A Navy SEAL has nothing left to live for and everything to kill for after he discovers that the American government is behind the deaths of his team in this ripped-from-the-headlines political thriller. On his last combat deployment, Lieutenant Commander James Reece’s entire team was killed in a catastrophic ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. It’s also an Amazon series, but read the book. The movies/shows are never as good as the books. Check it out.
A Small Business You Should Support - The people at Happy Patch Hat Co. are passionate about creating one-of-a-kind patch hats that are as unique as you are. Their hats are designed and embroidered in-house, so you can be sure that each one is a true work of art. They believe that style should be personal, and that's why they only create limited quantity drops. Once they're gone, they're gone forever! So if you see a hat you love, don't wait - grab it before it's too late! Next drop is October 5. Check em out.
A Person You Should Follow on LinkedIn - National Park Service. Their social presence sets a chuckle out of me almost everyday. Great humor and wit on display daily. Most people know that the National Park Service cares for national parks, a network of over 420 natural, cultural and recreational sites across the nation. The treasures in this system - the first of its kind in the world - have been set aside by the American people to preserve, protect, and share the legacies of this land. Beyond national parks, the National Park Service helps communities across America preserve and enhance important local heritage and close-to-home recreational opportunities. Follow them here.

A Podcast You Should Listen To - Hidden Brain. Shankar Vedantam uses science and storytelling to reveal the unconscious patterns that drive human behavior, shape our choices and direct our relationships. In this episode they discuss how it’s easy to think that the best teams are collections of highly accomplished or talented individuals, working under a skilled leader. But that's no guarantee of success. Psychologist Anita Woolley says the best teams are far more than the sum of their parts, and they share certain basic characteristics.? Check it out.
A Verse From the Bible -? Finally, let’s get to the best part of this newsletter and the Lord’s word.
Romans 10:9-10
… that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9-10).
Many use this verse to teach that if a person is going to truly be a Christian, they are required to make a public confession of faith in front of other people. I disagree. I would argue, that the only thing required is that a Christian never publicly deny that Jesus is their Lord and Master. When asked to take a stand for Jesus in the public arena, we are required to not be ashamed of the gospel, and instead be ready to give an answer for the hope that we have in Jesus Christ. That is all.
All in all, I hope by looking into one or all of these five areas of your life, you can extend your reach and accelerate your personal and professional growth. I hope this newsletter has been helpful and I look forward to sharing more with you next time!
