Expressive Journaling Linked to Fewer Doctors’ Visits, Says Research

Expressive journaling - disclosing one's thoughts and feelings concerning difficult events through writing has many health benefits, including fewer doctors’ visits.

According to a review of almost 150 randomized controlled trials, published in Psychological Bulletin, expressive writing improves levels of positive functioning and the ability to deal with traumatic events, while decreasing anxiety, depression, and anger.

This review adds to the mounting research showing that expressive journaling may improve not only physical and mental health but also work productivity and social relationships.?
