[Exposed Day Ten] It's Okay to Care Deeply About Your Clients
Dare I even say, love them?
To go beyond the exchange of money, time, and value - and care for them on a human level.
I'll share some tips on how to create that powerful connection with your clients while keeping healthy boundaries so you can supercharge your results and business success.
But first, a story.
??????
Most of my career was under the 'old' paradigm of business.
?? "Don't hire your friends"
?? "Don't go into business with family"
?? "Don't mix business with pleasure"
Ever heard those phrases thrown around? Yep, that's what dominates the traditional business world.
And that's what I call bullshit on!
But I digress...
While I was still playing in that world, I knew I wanted to show up at a deeper and more connected level but I couldn't put my finger on exactly what that would look like.
My soul was aching for a different paradigm of service.
But what was it? I didn't know yet.
Then, shortly after starting this business, I hired my first marketing coach, Juliana.
And I clearly remember one of our calls.
The topic was to be something marketing related but I was deep in the "entrepreneurship blues".
I wasn't open to any of her ideas.
I was stuck in my spiral of doom.
And she just let me be exactly where I was.
Witnessed with love, compassion, and presence.
She followed up with some awesome resources AND a gentle push for action.
And guess what happened?
?? I got out of that funk quicker than before and was able to show back up for my business and my life.
That wasn't part of her 'role' as my marketing coach.
That's just how she shows up. From a place of love and service.
And that's when it clicked for me.
That is exactly how I want to show up for my clients too.
And now I do.
? I get to provide powerful strategic guidance for my clients AND hold space for them with love and compassion
? I get to walk side-by-side with them on their journey towards their dreams - be with them for the funks AND the wins along the way
? I get to deeply care for and, dare I even say, love, every one of my clients
Because that's the future of business and is where the magic lies.
??????
And now the tips for how to show up with love while keeping healthy boundaries.
??Start your client relationship by understanding why they want to have the thing you're helping them with. Getting to the root of it allows you to understand their drivers and motivations and to show up as part of their 'team'.
?? Approach every interaction from a place of love, care, and service.
?? Be committed to their success.
?? Stay within the confines of your arrangement. This isn't a call to over-give or to sacrifice your time. Leading with service does not have to take up more time and in most cases, you'll get better results in less time.
?? Create an intentional container for your interactions and stay in your zone as leader/guide. Avoid morphing into social chit-chat and losing effectiveness.
??????
Is this how you already run your business or can you infuse some more love and service into your model?
Do you have any other tips to add that have worked well for you either as a client or provider?
??????
