[Exposed Day Five] Is There Room for You in a Crowded Market?
You Don't Need a Groundbreaking Idea to Have a Successful Business.
Are you wondering if there is room for your services in a crowded market?
An amazing relationship counselor and I were throwing around online course ideas for her business during a strategy session.
She came to me because she created a business and a life that was centered around her patients and her practice - allowing little freedom to spend time with her growing family or to increase her income without putting a lot of extra hours in.
A GOOD online course solves ONE pressing problem for the target client avatar.
Meaning the course topic has to be much narrower than most service-based providers' general scope of work.
And during our strategy session, we were talking about what that should be for her.
"No, I can't do that one - it's already been done" she replied to a suggestion I offered her.
Yep, it has.
And I totally get the desire to create something totally new and groundbreaking.
Because it would feel safer without perceived competition.
Perceived. Not real.
In reality -
??There is no such thing as competition for services where we are a part of the delivery model.
?? No one is EXACTLY like her - with her energy, her approach, and the exact results she gets for her clients.
?? There will be clients who will resonate with her style. While others won't.
And I totally get this fear because I've felt it too.
When I was feeling into creating this business - helping amazing service providers create online programs - I went through the same doubts.
There are people already doing this, will there be room for me too?
And here is the process I went through - and invite you to try - if this is a thought that's keeping you from putting your gifts out into the world in a bigger way:
??Is there a significant number of people who have the problem you solve? How does that number compare to how many clients you need for your business?
?? Why should they hire you? This is where you get to BRAG without holding back.
?? How is your work different than the others - and why should these differences matter to your target client? Leverage that long list you created during the second prompt!
Chances are - there is totally space for you in the market you want to play in and attract plenty of clients to make it a success!
You don't have to create a brand new topic or industry.
Because here's the thing.
Having other providers in the space you're entering is actually a good thing.
It means that you won't have to be educating the masses about the topic of your work.
Others have done it before you - and you get to come in and attract the clients who resonate with you and your style.
Is there a business idea you've had that hasn't felt new and groundbreaking enough for you so you haven't pursued it?
?? Let us know what that idea is, and I challenge you to make it a reality if your heart and soul are calling for it!
