Export opportunities beckon for green hydrogen from Scottish offshore wind
Scotland’s huge offshore wind potential provides it with an unparalleled opportunity to use renewable energy to decarbonise its economy and export green hydrogen to Europe, a late-May conference heard.
Floating windfarms could play an especially important role, providing the scale and capacity factors required to produce electricity and green hydrogen, with energy brought ashore in the form of electrons, hydrogen or ammonia, potentially re-using existing gas infrastructure.
