  • Imbalance in Doshas: Vata imbalance can lead to insomnia and anxiety-related sleep disturbances. Pitta imbalance may cause excessive dreaming and irritability before sleep. Kapha imbalance can result in excessive daytime sleepiness and difficulty waking up.
  • Poor Digestion: Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of digestion (agni). Poor digestion can contribute to toxins (ama) that disturb sleep.

  • Herbal Remedies: Medicinal herbs such as Brahmi, Ashwagandha, and Jatamansi are used to calm the mind and promote relaxation.
  • Lifestyle Adjustments: Establishing a regular sleep schedule, practicing meditation or yoga nidra, and adopting a calming bedtime routine are recommended.
  • Dietary Modifications: Consuming easily digestible foods and avoiding heavy meals before bedtime can support healthy sleep


Sleep in Allopathy: Causes and Treatments:

Allopathic medicine takes a physiological and clinical approach to treating sleep disorders, concentrating on determining the underlying reasons through diagnostic procedures and research-backed therapies.

Common Sleep Disorders in Allopathy:

  1. Insomnia: Difficulty falling or staying asleep, often associated with stress, anxiety, or medical conditions.
  2. Sleep Apnea: Interruptions in breathing during sleep, leading to fragmented sleep and oxygen deprivation.
  3. Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS): Uncomfortable sensations in the legs causing an irresistible urge to move them, disrupting sleep.
  4. Narcolepsy: Excessive daytime sleepiness and sudden episodes of muscle weakness triggered by strong emotions.


Allopathic Treatments for Sleep Disorders:

  • Medications: Prescription medications such as benzodiazepines, non-benzodiazepine hypnotics, or antidepressants may be prescribed for insomnia and other sleep disorders.
  • Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP): Used to treat sleep apnea by delivering air pressure through a mask to keep airways open during sleep.
  • Behavioral Therapies: Cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is effective in addressing psychological factors contributing to sleep disorders.
  • Surgical Interventions: For severe cases of sleep apnea or certain sleep-related movement disorders
