Exploring the Siemens Experience: Insights from a Laboratory Test Engineer
Crafting a Career Path: From Soldering to Machine Expertise
I started off as an electronics solderer, working on smaller machines, but as I gained more experience, I transitioned to servicing larger machines. It was during this time that I saw an announcement about a temporary Laboratory Test Technician role at Siemens, I was successful in my application and decided to make the move to Congleton. I started as a Laboratory Test Technician and later took on a Repair Technician Role to allow me to stay with the business. And finally, I was offered a permanent position of Laboratory Test Engineer.?
What Caught My Eye: Personal Reflections on Joining Siemens
It was the name itself. Siemens is a well-known and respected company, and I wanted to be part of something bigger. I was drawn to the possibility of building a career here. The chance to work on a wide range of projects and tasks that would enhance my skills and knowledge. Siemens offered more than just everyday testing; it presented a great opportunity for personal growth.?
Working Environment: A Supportive Community and Collaborative Spirit
It’s been great. The culture and the people here make it a special place. There's a strong emphasis on collaboration, knowledge sharing, and helping one another. It's a stark contrast to my previous experience in a less favourable work environment where people actively chose to withhold knowledge. At Siemens, everyone is genuinely helpful and willing to explain things. The way they treat their employees is remarkable. I used to work in a place where I couldn't leave my work behind when I clocked out, but here at Siemens, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to reduce stress. If I'm running late, I know it's not the end of the world. It's a supportive and nurturing environment where everyone enjoys what they do.?
What's An Average Day Like at Siemens Congleton??
It’s hard to say as no two days are the same, and that's what keeps things exciting. Every day brings something new and different. I find myself preparing equipment, fixing setups, and on Fridays, I report the results from our tests. What I love most is that I'm constantly learning. There's always something new to discover, and that's the best part of my role. Some tests can be as short as two hours, while others may take a few days. Most of the tests we run are "requim runs," ensuring that our products meet the high standards before they're released to customers.?
What is the most exciting part of your role??
When it comes to the most exciting part of my role, it's honestly hard to choose. I genuinely enjoy everything I do here at Siemens.?
Beyond the Lab Coat: Lessons, Joys, and Personal Insights??
I'm enjoying my time at Siemens. It's a great place for anyone who is looking to expand their technical knowledge. Opportunities for growth are everywhere, and the company recognises and appreciates employees who love their work.?
