Dr. Chudner elaborated on the benefits and challenges associated with private equity acquisitions, highlighting opportunities for advancing clinical care through investments in emerging technology.
Dr. Chudner highlighted the importance of investing in better patient care and how private equity can help to achieve this by stating, “…we're able to put more resources into practices. We can advance the level of care because we're investing in it. We're not relying on the owner to invest using their own money.” Regarding private equity having the capital to invest in new technology, as Dr. Chudner further emphasized, “We're testing several new devices throughout our locations, such as virtual headsets, ERG, tear testing as a part of our ocular surface disease protocol, and axial length devices for myopia management. Through investment, private equity can improve the level of care for our patients. As the Chief Medical Officer, I believe the key to growing our practices is through improving the level of care we provide our patients.”
