#Carpal_Tunnel_Syndrome (CTS) is the most common entrapment neuropathy presenting to the Orthopaedic outpatient department. Assessment of CTS depends on detailed history taking, clinical examination and #nerve_conduction_studies (NCS). NCS have traditionally been viewed as the most effective method for the assessment of CTS; however, they carry a cost and often delay treatment due to additional waiting times. This study explores the positive and negative predictive validity of a clinician and patient-completed version of the #Carpal_Tunnel_Questionnaire (CTQ) against the outcome of subsequent NCS. Sensitivities obtained from the CTQ strongly support its role as a screening tool for NCS in those patients with suspected CTS.
