Defining Success
?
Ever pondered the profound connection between finding meaning in life and reaping its rewards? This week I want us to look at the curious nature of what success is.? Success is like crisis in that the definition is self-defined.? A lot to dive into when we look at it in that respect.? This week’s newsletter will explore all of it!
What is success??
?Often when lean on ideas of success in what we gain, what a successful life would look like, and start to name qualities of success. The truth is success is self-defined. We choose what success is.? Often, in wellness we talk about defining a “why.”? This why is what keeps us motivated towards our goals.? This, to me, is what success is;? it’s being present for our family, being able to be available to experience meaningful events, ??feeling a sense of security and safety.? Ultimately, success is subjective and deeply personal, and what constitutes success for one person may differ from another. It's important to define success in a way that resonates with your values, aspirations, and vision for a fulfilling life. By embracing a holistic view of success and striving to cultivate fulfillment in all areas of life, you can create a meaningful and rewarding journey towards success.

Key concepts of success, Keep it personal
Success—such a multifaceted and elusive concept, isn't it? For years, I found myself on a quest to unlock its secrets, chasing after external markers of achievement and validation. It wasn't until I embarked on a deeply personal journey of self-discovery that I realized the true essence of success lies within. Here are the key concepts that have transformed my understanding of success, each one a milestone on my path to fulfillment.
1. Authenticity: Embracing My True Self
For the longest time, I tried to mold myself into society's expectations of success—chasing titles, accolades, and status symbols that felt hollow and fleeting. It wasn't until I embraced my authenticity, flaws and all, that I began to truly thrive. Success, I realized, is about honoring my unique talents, passions, and values, and living in alignment with my true self.
2. Resilience: Embracing Life's Challenges
Life is full of twists and turns, setbacks and failures. Yet, it's our ability to bounce back from adversity that defines our success. I've learned that resilience isn't just about weathering the storm; it's about growing stronger in its wake. Every setback became an opportunity for growth, resilience, and self-discovery, shaping me into the person I am today.
3. Connection: Embracing Meaningful Relationships
In my pursuit of success, I often overlooked the importance of genuine human connection. It wasn't until I prioritized nurturing meaningful relationships—with friends, family, mentors, and community—that I discovered the true richness of life. Success, I realized, is not a solo journey but a shared experience, woven together by the threads of love, support, and connection.
4. Purpose: Embracing Meaningful Contribution
True success isn't measured by wealth, fame, or power, but by the impact we make in the lives of others. I found my sense of purpose in serving others, whether through acts of kindness, volunteering, or using my skills to make a positive difference in the world. Success, I realized, is about leaving a legacy of love, compassion, and generosity.
5. Gratitude: Embracing the Present Moment
In my relentless pursuit of success, I often overlooked the beauty and blessings that surrounded me. It wasn't until I practiced gratitude—cultivating a deep appreciation for the present moment and all that it holds—that I found true abundance and joy. Success, I realized, is not a destination to be reached but a journey to be savored, one moment at a time.
6. Growth: Embracing Lifelong Learning
Success is not a static state but a continual process of growth and evolution. I've embraced the mindset of lifelong learning—seeking out new experiences, challenges, and opportunities for personal and professional development. Success, I realized, is not about reaching a final destination but about embracing the journey of self-discovery and growth.
In embracing these key concepts of success—authenticity, resilience, connection, purpose, gratitude, and growth—I've unlocked a new paradigm of fulfillment and meaning in my life. Success is no longer a distant goal to be chased but a deeply personal journey of self-discovery, growth, and contribution. And in walking this path, I've found the true essence of success—living a life rich in purpose, passion, and joy.

Negative Narrative blocks the good and value
Let's delve into the impact of negative narratives on our perception of ourselves, others, and the world around us. These narratives, often rooted in self-doubt, fear, or past experiences, have a powerful influence on how we interpret and interact with the world. Here's how they can block the good and diminish our sense of value:
1. Self-Limiting Beliefs:
Negative narratives often manifest as self-limiting beliefs—those inner voices that whisper, "I'm not good enough," "I'll never succeed," or "I don't deserve happiness." These beliefs act as barriers, preventing us from recognizing our strengths, potential, and inherent worth. They obscure the good within us and undermine our confidence and self-esteem.
2. Filtering Out Positivity:
Negative narratives have a way of filtering out positivity and amplifying negativity. Like a dark cloud looming overhead, they obscure our ability to see the beauty, blessings, and opportunities that surround us. We become hyper-focused on what's wrong or lacking, unable to appreciate the goodness that exists within and around us.
3. Distorted Perspectives:
Negative narratives distort our perspectives, coloring how we interpret events, situations, and interactions. We may perceive innocent comments as criticism, setbacks as failures, or challenges as insurmountable obstacles. These distorted perceptions reinforce our negative beliefs and further block our ability to see the good and value in ourselves and others.
4. Diminished Self-Worth:
Over time, negative narratives chip away at our self-worth and sense of value. We internalize the messages of inadequacy, unworthiness, and self-criticism, believing them to be true reflections of who we are. This diminished self-worth hinders our ability to recognize our strengths, accomplishments, and potential for growth.
5. Impact on Relationships:
Negative narratives not only affect how we perceive ourselves but also how we interact with others. We may project our insecurities onto others, assuming the worst intentions or interpreting benign actions as slights. This can lead to misunderstandings, conflicts, and barriers to forming genuine connections and nurturing meaningful relationships.
Overcoming Negative Narratives:
By confronting and reframing negative narratives, we can begin to unblock the good and value in ourselves, others, and the world, allowing us to live more fully and authentically.
