Exploring Opportunities for Growth: A Conversation with UP’s Hannah Webb on Autonomy and Professional Development
At Universal Pixels, we actively look for ways to support the growth and ambitions of our team, building a culture that values both autonomy and continuous learning.?
Recently, we sat down with Hannah Webb, our Crew Coordinator who joined us a little over a year ago. Hannah’s journey reflects what we aim to cultivate in our people: a path of growth supported by the freedom to explore their interests and stretch their capabilities.
Shaping Hannah’s Role
Hannah’s role at UP began as a Project Administrator, supporting our project managers with essential logistical tasks. Over time, Hannah embraced new challenges and naturally moved into her current role as Crew Coordinator, where she manages crew planning, logistics, and provides project support.?
“It was a bit daunting at first, but I love that I’m meeting new people and collaborating every day. It’s not just a desk job; there’s a human side to it that I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I do.”
Hannah’s evolving role speaks to our approach at UP: we encourage growth in directions that benefit both our people and our work. By allowing team members like Hannah to shape their path, we’re creating a place where everyone can develop skills that directly contribute to our projects and client experience.
Hands-On Learning Beyond the Job Description
One of the most exciting projects Hannah tackled this year was outside her day-to-day responsibilities: learning to build an LED screen. With guidance from our technical team, Hannah assembled a small LED setup from scratch—learning to build the screen, power it, and set up the processing rack to display visuals.?
“It was a small screen and seeing it go from parts to a functioning setup gave me a real sense of achievement. Now, if a project comes in that’s fully LED, I feel more equipped to step in and help.”

It’s this type of hands-on learning that we want to make possible for everyone at UP to help build the confidence in our team to take on new challenges.
Prioritising Our People
“The encouragement here doesn’t stop with my line manager. Everyone, from project managers to our leadership, is there to help and answer questions.”
At UP, creating a space where people feel valued and supported is central to our culture. Through our journey to B-Corp status, we reviewed our people practices and processes, which reinforced the importance of prioritising employee development. As a result, initiatives that empower our team to grow and take on new challenges have become a key focus.
Hannah, for example, shared how she experienced this support firsthand when she received a shout-out in our internal newsletter for her initiative in learning new technical skills.?
“It’s not just about doing something extra; it’s that others notice and appreciate it.” This kind of recognition and encouragement is part of what we hope makes UP a place where people can see a future, take initiative, and know their contributions are genuinely valued.
Looking to the Future
With Hannah now involved in crew planning for 2025, she’s excited for what’s next—for both herself and UP. Hannah hopes to manage her own project from start to finish in the future, and we’re here to support her on that journey, just as we’re committed to helping every team member grow in the direction that excites them most.
At Universal Pixels , we know that our people are at the heart of what we do. By encouraging growth, exploration, and learning, we’re not just building a team; we’re building a place where everyone feels empowered to shape the future with us.
