Malaysia’s #1 CAAM Approved Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO COA: ATO.RPTO.02/22).
Nestled in the quiet street of Seri Menanti Road, Masjid Lama Kariah Kampung Parit Istana is one of the oldest mosques in Mukim Terachi, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. It is believed that this structure existed for more than 100 years. However, behind its architectural allure lies an interesting and untold story. The mosque has a total of 16 pillars supporting its two-tiered roof. The four main pillars were carved with floral motives by four tribes which are Biduanda, Seri Lemak, Tiga Nenek Acheh and Anak Acheh. According to the locals, this masjid was built using the timber from Angsi Mountain and using ‘Teknik Pasak’. Based on research done by historians, this masjid was a stopover of the previous Sultan Brunei to pray when the sultan visited the area.??

The M3T allowed the team to capture detailed architectural details and thermal data, providing a comprehensive understanding of the masjid's structural integrity and environmental conditions. A total of more than 400 RGB and thermal images, respectively, are collected throughout this project, and a detailed 3D model has been generated with the data collected.?
The resulting 3D model and thermal imaging dataset serve as invaluable assets for preserving and promoting the masjid's cultural heritage. Beyond mere visual representation, these outputs offer insights into the masjid's historical significance, aiding in its conservation and restoration efforts. The successful execution of this project shows the transformative potential of drone technology in historical building recovery processes.
