Hello PM enthusiasts!
Over the last weekend, while playing with Sefirot Independent Publisher ’s Fabula storytelling cards, I stumbled upon an intriguing idea almost by chance.
It sparked my creativity, leading me to conceptualize a novel focused on the dynamic relationship between project managers and artificial intelligence.
Let’s dive into this Concept, which blends the narrative power of storytelling with the evolving world of PM and AI. ??

Chapter 1 - At the Crossroads
The city stirred to life slowly under a gray sky that blanketed an ordinary Tuesday morning. Its tall buildings, like silent giants, housed a myriad of offices where men and women played their roles, like pawns in a chess game that had lost much of its charm. In one of these cubicles, amidst the soft hum of computers and the distant sound of muted conversations, sat John, a project manager in his forties. His face, marked with lines of experience, bore a look of concentration, and his once lush hair was beginning to show signs of retreat. He was immersed in the glow of his computer screen, where emails cascaded one after the other – each a testament to the relentless challenges in the ever-evolving world of project management.
Outside his window, the city's veins were alive with the ceaseless flow of traffic. Cars and buses streamed past in an endless parade, each a capsule of stories, a vessel of individual missions and destinies. John watched them, his mind drawing parallels to his own life. Each vehicle, a mini-project, each driver, a project manager of sorts, navigating the intricate network of roads, much like he navigated the complexities of his professional undertakings. He felt a kinship with these unknown travellers, sharing their sense of purpose yet also their uncertainty about the road ahead.
"John, have you seen the latest email about the new AI directive?" The voice of Sarah, his colleague, broke through his contemplation. She was a bright spark in the office – young, intelligent, and brimming with ideas. Her question was a jolt back to reality. "They're looking to automate part of our workflow".
John's eyes remained fixed on the window, even as he nodded in acknowledgment. Artificial intelligence – the term that was stirring up a storm in every industry, was now a tangible reality in his own realm. For some, it was a harbinger of progress, a beacon of efficiency and advancement. For others, a specter of uncertainty, an unknown variable that threatened to unbalance the delicate equation of their professional life. For John, it was a blend of both – the next chapter in a journey that had been anything but linear.
"I'm not sure, Sarah," he finally replied, his voice tinged with a mix of skepticism and curiosity. "Can AI really grasp the nuances of our work? Can it understand the subtlety of managing client relationships or the intricacy of solving unforeseen problems that arise in the dead of night?"
Sarah leaned against the edge of John's desk, her fingers absentmindedly spinning a pen. "Perhaps not in the way we do, but it's designed to anticipate and address problems before they escalate. That's where the future is heading, John. We need to ride this wave, not get swept away by it".
John let out a long sigh and turned back to his computer. The future – a notion that was as intangible as it was inevitable. The soft ping of his computer signaled another email, a reminder that the landscape of his career was shifting beneath his feet, faster than he sometimes felt prepared for.
Yet, beneath the surface of his apprehension, there was a simmering excitement. The thrill of the unknown, the allure of new challenges, the promise of transformation. This was the essence that had drawn him to the field of project management – the constant flux, the problem-solving, the orchestration of many moving parts to create a symphony of success.
"Maybe you have a point," he conceded, turning towards Sarah with a thoughtful expression. "But let's not lose sight of who we are in the midst of all this change. We are more than just cogs in a machine".
A smile of understanding lit up Sarah's face. "Exactly. Let's harness this technology to amplify what we do best".
As the day unfolded, John felt a growing sense of anticipation. The future might be shrouded in ambiguity, but it was also ripe with possibilities. Perhaps, in this new chapter, much like the protagonists in the stories he cherished, there was a role for an unexpected hero – someone who could bridge the gap between the technological and the human, navigating a path not just of efficiency, but of empathy and insight.
The city, with its myriad of stories and journeys, was a mirror to his own journey. In its bustling streets and the quiet hum of his office, John found a renewed purpose – to blend the old with the new, to find harmony between the timeless art of human intuition and the relentless march of technological progress.
