However, it is currently unable to provide personalized advice to patients, and its predictions are not always accurate. Also, it does not have the ability to interpret medical images or videos, making it less useful for certain situations.

In this article, I will start by defining what ChatGPT is, how it is trained, and how it works. I will then share some insights on how it could affect healthcare, its challenges and opportunities, as it is important to recognize both the potential and the limitations of this technology in order to ensure that its implementation is done properly and safely. I will then finish with some examples of how I have been using it so far and final conclusions.

Examples of ChatGPT applications that I have experienced so far:

1. Question answering: ChatGPT can answer questions based on information it has been trained on, making it a useful tool for knowledge management.

I have asked many questions to solve issues at work, to start writing articles and presentations, or even to brainstorm ideas for my thesis:

  • "what is health consummer?"
  • "what are some examples of success metrics and how can I use them?"
  • "explain User Centered Design"

I have even asked for instructions on how to create an AirTable Database and how to apply different formulas to calculate specific outcomes.

2. Language translation: ChatGPT can be trained on multiple languages and can be used to translate between languages.

I have translated answers to both Spanish and English, and I have used it as a text translator with results similar to those of Google Translate.

3. Content creation: ChatGPT can generate creative content, such as poetry, fiction, or song lyrics.

I have played a little, asking it to write songs in the style of different artists with different levels of results. Some were accurate, some were funny, some were a little bit off, like when I asked it to write a song about using ICTs (information and communication technologies) in Pediatrics, in the style of Shakira.

4. Summarization: ChatGPT can generate summaries of longer texts, such as articles, books, or reports.

I have asked for summaries on texts I had to read right away and it provided me the key points and takeaways I needed. It also gives back a list with the main insights and highlights of the text.

5. Data augmentation: ChatGPT can generate new data based on existing data, making it useful for data augmentation in machine learning and artificial intelligence.

It can also do the opposite: from a starting idea or concept it can enlarge content and make an article longer. I have used this when I needed to expand on areas when I wasn't inspired or when I lacked motivation.

6. Dialogue generation: ChatGPT can generate dialogue for use in virtual assistants, customer service chatbots, or other conversational interfaces.

I have tried to create a conversational experience with ChatGPT as a chatbot and I didn't get the feedback I was looking for, but I have to say that it was able to keep up with the talk and make it coherent.

7. Text generation: ChatGPT can generate coherent and fluent text based on input, making it useful for writing articles, summaries, and reports.

I think this is the most useful asset on my day to day activities so far. It has saved me an incredible amount of time and it has helped me write extensive content, such as this article and many others


Lessons learned and main takeouts about using ChatGPT

I found that ChatGPT is a powerful tool for automating repetitive tasks and generating text, but it still requires human oversight and judgement. I think it works best when used in conjunction with other technologies and platforms, such as NotionAI. It still requires careful selection and preparation of the training data, since results can be biased, so it's important to be aware of this and to regularly evaluate and adjust its training data as needed. The ethical implications of using AI in healthcare must be considered, including issues such as data privacy, and algorithmic bias.

One of the most important things I experienced while using ChatGPT is that results can be improved greatly by using well-designed prompts that guide its generation process.

A prompt is a piece of text that is used to guide the language generation process of ChatGPT. The prompt provides context and direction, helping it to generate coherent and relevant text.

There are different types of prompts that can be used, including simple prompts that provide a brief description of the topic to be generated, and more complex prompts that include specific details and constraints for the language generation process.

The goals of the language generation task will determine what kind of promt to use. For example, if the goal is to generate creative text, the prompt may be more open-ended and provide fewer constraints, while if the goal is to generate more factual or data-driven text, the prompt may be more specific and include more detailed information.

When I wanted to start an article I usually gave topics and things I wanted to include, but when I wanted to generate a formula to analyze data in a specific database I had to give some examples of what I was doing and how I expected the task to be completed.

Another important consideration when designing prompts is to ensure that they are clear and concise, while also providing enough information to guide it effectively.

ChatGPT has the potential to revolutionize the healthcare experience for patients and providers alike, providing a more efficient, engaging, and personalized experience. However, while ChatGPT has the ability to automate certain tasks and provide quick and accurate information, it is not meant to replace human healthcare providers.
