Exploring HR and AI: A Mix of Old and New Ways

Recently, I went to a LinkedIn event in Hyderabad called "Experience the Future of Hiring: LinkedIn Hire Connect." It was well hosted by Santosh D’souza and organised by LinkedIn . I had a chance to talk with other HR leaders and network with other professionals and hear from them on what they think about HR & AI world.

In my 18 years in Human Resources, I've seen HR change from old methods to new trends. Human Resources mixing with Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing how we manage talent, do tasks, and connect with employees. Let's talk about my experience and see how AI is changing things, keeping the human touch.

Over time, HR has changed a lot. From old ways to new tech, AI has become a big deal. I've seen these changes, and I want to share how HR and AI can work together, making tasks efficient but keeping the human touch.

Using AI in Hiring: Back in my early HR days, hiring was a lot of work. But now, with AI, it's different. AI tools do routine tasks, letting us focus on important decisions. Predictive analytics helps us find good talent fast, making hiring quicker and not losing the human touch.

My Thought: "From looking at resumes by hand to using AI for hiring, it's a big change. We hire faster and get better candidates."

The Power of Analytics: I like using data to understand things. AI has made a big difference here. Advanced analytics helps HR leaders make smart decisions about managing talent, planning for the future, and evaluating performance. Now, we understand complex data quickly, making our planning better while still trusting our instincts.

My Thought: "In the past, we trusted our gut for planning. Now, AI analytics give us a deep look into our workforce, helping us plan better."

Balancing Automation with the Human Touch: AI chatbots are cool for better employee engagement. But it's important to balance automation with a personal touch. Chatbots help with quick communication, giving support and making interactions personal. This makes a workplace efficient and caring.

My Thought: "AI chatbots changed how we talk to employees. It's not just about making things faster but also making sure our employees feel heard and supported, mixing technology with a personal touch."

Adding AI, Not Replacing Humans: In my almost two decades in HR, I know it's about balancing technology and the human side. AI, when used well, makes HR better, enhancing the employee experience and helping the organization succeed. It's important to remember that AI adds to our tools, not replaces the human touch.

My Thought: "Our experience helps us use AI's power while keeping the human connection. It's about making a workplace that's not just high-tech but also understands each team member."

Looking back and ahead, the teamwork between HR and AI has lots of possibilities. The lessons from old HR ways help us use the new stuff AI brings. Navigating HR with both views ensures a workplace that's not just tech-savvy but also caring, finding the right balance for what's coming next. AI in Human Resources should help us, not replace us, keeping the 'Human' in HR.
