Exploring Generative AI Use Cases Across Payment Providers

I've put together a list of the features from my experience that I expect to see in the future...!! I really think we can remove those usual blockers to migrate from one payment provider to another and accelerate time to market...


1. Payment SDK Integration

Integrating payment SDKs has traditionally been a time consuming process, requiring technical expertise and manual configuration. Imagine you could have access to a code assistant agent where you can paste your checkout code and the agent returns the new checkout code with the integration already performed. This AI code assistants would guide you through a "seamless integration" or replacement of your current payment solutions in a few minutes...

2. Workflow Automation

Routine, repetitive processes should be something from the past! I mean think about dispute resolution to debt collection, this process should be automated with GenAI powered agents. Payment reconciliation and downtime notifications, previously requiring human oversight, should be setup to be managed autonomously.

3. Operation Efficiency in Customer service

Operational efficiency is critical for any payment provider, and GenAI offers transformative solutions:

  • Automating responses to common customer inquiries with natural language processing.
  • Classifying call intents to optimize contact center workflows, ensuring that issues are resolved quickly and sent to the right department.
  • Supporting agents with real-time insights and guided actions. Enabling support agent to go from a Level 100 to Level 300 answer without needing to involve the tech / product department in every touchpoint.

4. Agentic AI for Automation

The concept of agentic AI, where semi-autonomous agents execute complex tasks, is becoming a reality...Imagine agents that:

  • Manage logistics and reservations, automating tedious processes with minimal human intervention, such as "Book my tickets to the next FC Zurich game..." or maybe talking directly to Alexa for ink for my printer.
  • Imagine having to split payment between, transferring money from Zurich to Chile, how can you find the best FX and cheapest way and have the system execute....

This is no longer a "distant wish", Stripe’s Agent Toolkit (GitHub Repository) is paving the way for autonomous systems capable of managing transactions securely...

So, whether you’re in payments, retail, or travel, the potential applications of Generative AI are pretty amazing and evolving every year, I would have not imagine that we would be already talking about agents and autonomy...
