Exploring the Gap Between Ideal Self

Exploring the Gap Between Ideal Self

We all have an ideal self that we strive to be and an authentic self that is our true identity. The difference between the two can often be difficult to distinguish, as they both exist in us simultaneously. But it's important to recognize this distinction to understand ourselves better and how we interact with others.

The ideal self is what you want yourself or your life situation to look like – your vision of perfection for yourself or something close enough that you feel comfortable striving toward it. It may include goals such as becoming more successful professionally, having more intimate relationships with family members, achieving financial stability or physical fitness goals, etc. This idea of whom you wish you could be motivates many people because they view their current selves as inadequate compared to what their ideal selves should look like.

On the other hand, the authentic self involves accepting oneself for who one truly is- flaws included - even if those traits don't align perfectly with societal standards. It also means being aware of one's strengths and using them effectively while working on improving weaknesses without feeling guilty about them. We must learn how and when it's ok not to live up to our expectations and instead focus on embracing ourselves fully regardless of where we are at any given moment.?

?Understanding these aspects helps us accept reality while still pushing forward toward tremendous potential, allowing us to stay focused on progress rather than obsessing over perfectionism which ultimately holds us back from reaching our full potential.
