Exploring diversity: A month of engagement at the Council

In May, the General Secretariat of the Council (GSC) celebrates its annual Diversity Month, an initiative dedicated to celebrating diversity and fostering inclusion within the institution.

Similar to last year, Diversity Month features a variety of activities and events designed to promote awareness and understanding of related issues. From workshops and participative leadership events to walks and book club meetings, the GSC staff will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and explore different aspects of diversity.

This year holds particular significance as the GSC concludes its four-year Diversity and Inclusion Strategy (2021-2024). Throughout the strategy's duration, efforts have been focused on advancing gender equality, supporting persons with disabilities, promoting LGBTI rights, embracing ethnic diversity, and recognizing age diversity. As the organization looks ahead, discussions will centre on defining its diversity goals for the next five years.

Under the theme of intersectionality, Diversity Month aims to highlight the interconnected nature of individuals' diverse identities and experiences. By fostering collaboration across departments and networks, the GSC seeks to strengthen its commitment to creating an inclusive workplace culture where all staff members feel valued and respected.

With a diverse range of activities planned, Diversity Month promises to be an enriching and educational experience for all participants. As staff members come together to celebrate diversity and embrace inclusion, the GSC looks forward to a month of constructive dialogue and collaboration.
