This answer omits discussion of LiFePO4 batteries.? This is a serious omission as they are used in many Electric Vehicles.? Lithium Phosphate batteries have the advantages of a flat discharge profile, 3000+ discharge cycles, quick to charge, high current output and much less risk of fire.? The only disadvantages are reduced energy density and a lower output voltage but there are batteries of this type in development with much improved energy density which offer the prospect of a 1000 mile range.

Hi Sir, I came to read your post and have a question for you. I have an outdoor security camera using INR 18650 3.7V 2600mah batteries. I cannot find such batteries on the market. But I can find 18650 3.7V 2600mah batteries without the INR designation. Will these ones be okay for the camera? Thanks.

It’s great post sir, thank you for sharing this, but I have a confusion regarding the ICR 18650 batteries, which is, I have often seen that there is various models of this specific battery some are named like 18560-22F , 26JM, I can understand that 22 means 2200mAh and 26 is 2600mAh but what is the meaning of the last one or two letters which is “F” and “JM” etc . Please explain this . . . thank you in advance sir .

You say that INR batteries have low energy density. Whoever I am using Samsung's INR that have a 3400 mha and it's known to me that Samsung's have some of the highest energy density batteries out there 3400 is one of the highest it is not the highest you can get I know some say they're better but when you test them they never come up to more then 2700mha so perhaps it's manufacturers that make most INR batteries low density and not the materials themselves.
