Here is what happened in October 2022:

We continued our campaign to share our vision at a.i. with the broader community and the opportunity to invest in our venture for equity. One of the things that we needed to improve on was how we were communicating our product and also our founding story. We spent many hours working on 2 scripts for these with pages and pages of feedback from community members and experts and lots of iterations. We ended the month with these videos that we are particularly proud of! enjoy...

AND

These videos are now the cornerstones of our campaign to tell people who are investing in us the story of why we are doing this, and how we are defining the future of technical knowledge management.

The next major item for Oct was our first session at Creative Destruction Lab. For those less familiar, this is an accelerator that helps startups from around the world connect with mentors who provide feedback towards milestones that the companies need to achieve. We met lots of cool founders, and knowledgeable mentors and learned so much about things we could improve. After the session we got matched with Liran, CEO of Benchsci, a company that we highly admire. Even after our first session with him, we are rethinking quite a bit of the components of our story, and strategic approach! Good stuff!

One of the things that we have been thinking about and the CDL feedback really amplified is more concrete commercial use cases for our product. Having more clarity around our first commercial use case will enable us to strategize our growth much more concretely to have a more realistic domino effect with more use cases to come in the future. We have spent a lot of time interacting with and learning from our users and our product has evolved based on that. But the product is now at a stage where we can accelerate our learning by getting more critical feedback from those who would potentially pay for it. There will be a lot more to say about this next month! stay tuned...

What were the highlights of the month for the team?

Community & Product

Amir: hey, what's your proudest contribution this month?
Ammar: product demo video *goes on to drop the mic and leave the room

In addition to better videos to tell our story, we needed to make sure our landing pages would also tell the same stories. So, Ammar and Sara worked quite hard to revamp those pages in a few days with some user feedback.

My greatest contribution this month is redesigning the landing page with Ammar and then implementing it. Additionally designing and implementing the Slack landing page, along with various product design improvements and promo design graphics. - Sara

We had largely dropped the ball on our social media accounts with everything that was going on, but we needed to pick that up again!

My biggest contribution is making the social media pages more engaging. Our page views and unique visitors are up by 50% on LinkedIn. - Nabila

R&D and Dev

There are quite a few things that the dev team is working on! Last feature of our graphical navigation before a private launch is almost ready!

My proudest contribution this month is the graph reload feature backend. This enables a concept graph to be generated for each individual recipe. There are still some known issues with it, but how we implemented it will enable us to combine and take advantage of multiple different concept extractors for the feature. - Percy
My proudest contribution this month is graph reload FE and integration which is now in the final stages - Bereket

Then quite a bit of work on the library

My?proudest contribution this month is the personal and project library switch on the new folder structure design. - Rehana
My proudest contribution this month has to be the backend changes made for the folder and table filteration which reduce the query time significantly. - Eyob
My greats contribution for this month is refining sidebar folder hierarchy, and implementing the new design for "new" action buttons. - Fasile

And as always, Sam has been the dev team's glue!

My proudest contribution this month is facilitating the folder structure with the team, deploying the graph reload feature, and working on a new backend architecture design for our system to make things faster and easier to iterate. - Samuel

Parting thoughts...

Having access to mentors who have done what you are trying to do, and passionately follow on with your work, and tell you the hard things you need to hear is such a remarkable privilege. In the past few month we have started working with Darryl Kirsh (investor), Sam Charrington (yes, the Sam Charrington), and now Liran Belenzon (see above), and that has accelerated our learning greatly by enabling us to tackle the most important problems heads on and without wasting time.

While I'm at it, I should also give special shoutout to those who were so generous with their time, and gave us feedback about our demo video, and / or appeared in our founding story video: Ian, Suhas, Ash, Sam, Sadegh, Kaaren, Hessie, Darryl, Denys, Omar, Yan ...
