Over the past 24 months, the AI landscape has undergone a rapid evolution, particularly with the landmark release of Open AI's GPT / ChatGPT in Nov 2022. This significant leap has ignited a global wave of both excitement and concern about AI. While AI has been a part of our world for many years, the emergence of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) has thrust it into the forefront of discussions among countries, businesses, and individuals, sparking a curiosity to delve deeper into its potential.
In AI Universe we have been hearing about Chatbots, Virtual Assistants, AI Agents, Cobots, Humanoids (Androids, Gynoids), Robots, Swarm Robots, Drones, Social Robots and others. I am sharing my understanding of this AI Universe as below:
Chatbots: These are conversational software tools with trained algorithms that help engage humans in text or voice-based interactions. Process the natural language (like English, Telugu, etc.) to understand the user's intent. Example: Customer service chatbot, Fresh Chat
Virtual Assistants are next level to Chatbots and are more sophisticated. Unlike chatbots, they perform complex tasks like research, scheduling, and analysis. They integrate with other systems and applications. Also, learn from interactions to improve their responses—examples: Siri, Google Assistant, Alexa, etc.
ChatGPT, Claude, and Google Gemini are the most potent tools and play the dual role of chatbot and virtual assistants.
AI Agents: These represent a new frontier in AI—these autonomous entities, whether IOT-based or Soft AI Agents, have the potential to revolutionize various industries. For instance, Tesla's Self-Driving car, powered by IOT-based AI Agents, can perform operations autonomously. On the other hand, soft AI Agents like QuantConnect can make trading decisions without human intervention, showcasing the immense potential of AI Agents in shaping our future. This potential inspires hope for a future where AI can significantly enhance our lives and industries.??
Swarm Robots: A group of robots work together to achieve a few tasks. For example, Swarm Farm Robots work together in the agriculture and autonomously operate for planting, weeding, spraying and monitoring corps. This is like workforce in the field working together.
Drones: Unmanned aerial vehicles are used for surveillance, delivery of consumer goods, etc. Drones can be humanly controlled or autonomous.

Cobots: These are the robots designed to work alongside humans. For example, UR5 by Universal Robots performs assembly tasks, quality control, and material handling along with humans.
Humanoids: These are robots that resemble humans and demonstrate human behaviour. For example, ASIMO (Honda) can walk, run, and interact with people. If they look like male, they are called androids. For example, Geminoids are robots, exactly like humans (For example, I am VSR, and we could build a VSR Geminoid, which is already happening in Japan). If the humanoid looks like a female, they are called gynoids (e.g.: Sophia). These diverse roles and applications of Humanoids in AI are truly fascinating and showcase the breadth of AI's potential.
Social Robots: These robots are designed for social interaction and human companionship. For example Para is a therapeutic robot it looks like a baby harp seal (animal). Social robots are used today in dementia therapies, providing psychological support, etc.? ?
The AI universe has different tools/ robots for various purposes and contexts. Organizations must identify the best suitable AI tools /robots that help in improving business performance.

1 个月Appreciate your insights, VSR. The recent quarterly reports from India's leading IT services companies and international IT services companies demonstrate the significant value added by Gen AI integration to their offerings, with revenue growth of up to 20% in some cases. What implications do you see for the future of IT services?
