Exploring AI Training with Larissa
appliedAI Institute for Europe gGmbH
Empowering professionals to develop and apply latest AI technologies responsibly.
In today’s Advent calendar series, we want to introduce Larissa H. . As an AI Trainer at the appliedAI Institute, Larissa is dedicated to inspiring people about Artificial Intelligence and equipping them with the tools needed to apply AI responsibly. At the appliedAI Studio in Heilbronn, she creates a space for hands-on workshops and interactive training sessions, fostering knowledge-sharing and the development of fresh perspectives.
What do you like most about your job?
Larissa: It’s not about one single event or experience but the accumulation of meaningful moments. When participants at the studio discover something new that’s relevant to them, or when we connect knowledge, exchange ideas, and engage in discussions, I feel exactly the kind of positive energy we need as we work together to shape AI technology for the better. Those moments of people sharing and learning make my day.
Looking back at your year, what has been the most exciting project you worked on in 2024, and why?
Larissa: Joining the team in September was an exciting journey, and my highlight has been creating a new training course for the Social Impact Republic: Python for AI. In just three days, participants learn essential steps for machine learning projects, from scoping to data cleansing to transformation, predictive modelling and model evaluation. Developing the program and delivering it to people from diverse backgrounds who are eager to use AI for good was both challenging and deeply rewarding. Meeting such motivated individuals really inspired me.
Your role involves frequent interaction with participants. Has there been a standout moment or piece of feedback that resonated with you?
Larissa: Seeing participants leave with a better grasp of AI and its potential is a constant source of motivation. It’s these connections and shared insights that remind me why I love what I do.
Building on those meaningful interactions, what are your aspirations for the future of AI in your field?
Larissa: Over the last two years, AI tools have become part of everyday life for more people, demonstrating AI’s incredible potential as a general-purpose technology. I see a growing curiosity from people across all walks of life who want to better understand how AI works and its associated risks. My aspiration is to see as many people as possible engage with AI, form informed opinions, and work together to harness its power for societal good. Including diverse perspectives in these discussions is essential to shaping AI in a way that benefits everyone.
We always like to ask about personal inspiration. Is there a quote that shapes your approach to work?
Larissa:
Definitely! One quote that resonates with me is by Eleanor Roosevelt:
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
Thank you Larissa, this reminds us that staying hopeful and believing in the potential of our collective efforts is key to driving meaningful change.
Stay tuned for a new week full of features!
