Centre for Human Specific Research?
Animal Free Research UK has launched the ‘Centre for Human Specific Research’ in December 2024, an initiative that is dedicated to accelerating the development of new treatments for human diseases by advancing human-specific research. This centre aims to build bridges between different stakeholders (scientists, biotech, pharma companies, product developers, and other research organizations) to foster collaboration in human-relevant research by providing fundings and access to their knowledge centre, ‘Ask the Expert’ service and the Antibodies Database.
Recombinant Antibodies Database
The advantages of recombinant antibodies and antibody mimetics are significant. They are more reproducible and reliable compared to the traditional animal-derived monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, as they are produced from DNA sequences. More information about the advantages on recombinant antibodies can be found in the recommendation report of EURL ECVAM.
In order to facilitate the access to this type of information about these antibodies, the Centre for Human Specific Research launched the ‘Recombinant Antibodies and Mimetics Database’. This database employs a user-friendly, colour-coding systems to categorise recombinant antibodies and antibody mimetics based on their origin, discovery, and production. The database currently contains thousands of antibodies and is continually growing, with new suppliers joining regularly.
“This database revolutionises the search for reproducible and reliable recombinant antibodies and antibody mimetics by providing scientists with easy access to detailed information about their origins and the methods used in their development. Equipping researchers with this information will help accelerate the adoption of cutting edge, reliable, and ethical affinity reagents, fostering innovation and excellence in scientific research.” – Dr. Stephanie Modi, Science Manager.
