Explore Linux on LinkedIn Learning

For those starting to learn about Linux, it can seem overwhelming even figuring out where to begin. My LinkedIn Learning course, Introduction to Linux , lays the foundations for new learners and recommends further resources to develop your Linux skills.

The Linux world is enormous, and the skills we can gain as we learn about Linux vary widely. From the basics of working with the command line, to administering services, to writing device drivers and working with the kernel code itself, LinkedIn Learning courses provide the skills you need. Command-Line Basics

My course Learning Linux Command Line introduces the basics of working with the Bash command-line shell, a foundational component of using and administering a Linux system. If you're brand new to using Linux, whether you're a developer, an administrator, or someone who needs to use the Linux command line for another reason, check out this course after you finish Introduction to Linux.

Linux: Bash Shell and Scripts goes beyond the basics and introduces additional skills useful at the command line and when creating Bash scripts.

Over the course of about two hours, Learning Bash Scripting explores how to build and troubleshoot scripts written in the Bash language and is targeted at those who will need to build scripts in their daily work.

System Administration

My course Building an Ubuntu Server provides a hands-on introduction to planning, building, and using a server running the popular Ubuntu Server distribution of Linux. Linux servers are common in home labs and business settings, and server administration is a great skill for aspiring developers and IT professionals to have.

Practical Linux for Network Engineers explores Linux skills from a network engineer's perspective, providing insights for those who need to work with networking tools and Linux systems.
