Exploding Pagers and Walkie-Talkies in Lebanon
In a shocking security breach, thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon exploded simultaneously over the past two days, killing at least 26 people and injuring thousands more.
Pager Explosions
On Tuesday, September 17th, around 3:45 PM local time, pagers carried by Hezbollah members began exploding across Lebanon, with the blasts continuing for about an hour. At least 12 people, including two children, were killed, and nearly 3,000 were injured. The pagers, which were recently acquired by Hezbollah from a Taiwanese company called Gold Apollo, had been tampered with by Israel's intelligence agency Mossad. Explosives were hidden inside the devices, likely during the manufacturing process or while in transit. The explosions were triggered by a coded message sent to the pagers.
Walkie-Talkie Explosions
The following day, September 18th, a second wave of explosions hit Lebanon, this time targeting walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah. At least 14 more people were killed, and 450 were injured.
