The simple design makes it easy to navigate, and the clear, concise copy tells you what the guide is all about. Next, the image she has used shows her personality and the mockup designs of the resource show you what to expect so you can decide if it’s worth handing over your precious inbox space. And, whilst the form isn’t visible, once you click on the button, you’ll be taken to a simple form that asks for your name and email address.

Finally, further down the page, 3 more free resources are listed, so if a visitor decides this isn’t the resource for them, Amy has multiple opportunities to get their email address. Now, I’m sure Amy doesn’t work alone, so having numerous resources is probably not as time-consuming as being responsible for creating them all yourself. However, it is good practice to have a couple to choose from.

What I Like:

  • Simple design and well laid out.
  • The image conveys Amy’s personality.
  • An image of what the guide looks like.

What can be improved:

  • The call to action could be more compelling than simply “download the guide.”
  • Amy could have included some social proof of how the guide has helped others


Anna Payne

?If you haven’t found yourself in Anna's world before, this is your opportunity. Anna Payne - Sales Training is a fantastic sales coach who provides immense value through her lead magnets and weekly emails. The?opt-in page we are looking at today is for Anna’s lead tracker (I use it myself and highly recommend it). Anna has started her opt-in page with some hard-hitting stats about looking after your leads.

Just like Amy’s, the page is well laid out and simple to navigate, and the form is displayed clearly, so you know exactly what information you are being asked to share to access the resource. Anna has included much more copy on this page; however, it all provides value and helps you understand exactly how the resource will help you make more sales.

One significant difference to Amy’s page is that there are no links to other areas of Anna’s site. This has long been standard practice with opt-in pages as the aim is to keep the visitor focussed on one topic; however, giving visitors the opportunity to see other resources may increase your chance of a conversion.

What I Like:

  • The use of stats to grab attention
  • Clear benefits of using the resource
  • Visible form so you know what information is being asked for

What can be improved:

  • Some added visuals either of Anna or the resource
  • Links to Anna’s other resources in case visitors decide this isn’t for them


AppSumo

?AppSumo was created by Noah Kagan and is an incredible resource for anyone who regularly purchases online software. Instead of paying monthly for things like CRMs, social media schedulers, AI tools, and more, you can find some fantastic software for a one-time payment or even free. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve used AppSumo and how much I’ve saved (don’t be surprised if an affiliate link pops up here soon).

Anyway, whilst this isn’t a dedicated opt-in page, I wanted to include it as it is another example of using an opt-in to build your list. AppSumo has its opt-in form directly on the home page; it very clearly tells you what you get from signing up and has a very clear call to action. Alongside the opt-in box, you can see examples of the software they currently have available. It’s a very short but very effective way of building an email list, depending on your business type.
